The project demonstrates the advanced application of VOXELGRID technology in the digital capture process of the historic Benediktbeuern Monastery. This initiative represents a significant milestone in the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for existing buildings, especially in complex and listed structures.

Technological implementation:

Both the interior and exterior of the monastery were captured as part of the project, using state-of-the-art laser scanners and drones. Over a period of 12 days, VOXELGRID GmbH was able to digitize up to 10,000 square meters of the gross floor area every day. The data generated enables a detailed and colorful representation of the monastery structures as a point cloud, which forms the basis for the subsequent creation of precise 2D CAD plans.

Digital transformation

The comprehensive digital surveys offer a new perspective on the monastery and significantly support the preservation and management of the historical heritage. The 2D plans generated from the point clouds contain detailed information on room structures, materials and the structural elements that are essential for renovations, maintenance and facility management.

Using deep learning and photogrammetry, VOXELGRID processes and analyzes the captured data to provide meaningful building views and façade details. These techniques facilitate precise area and space planning as well as the creation of tenders for maintenance work by implementing the data efficiently and cost-effectively.

VOXELGRID continues to work on integrating this data into the AiBATROSÂź as-built management software to realize BIM in 6D, which will revolutionize the time and sustainability dimension of construction projects.
